A knowledge exchange platform on norms compliance in war

Hosted at the University of York’s Centre for Applied Human Rights, the Generating Respect Hub is a knowledge exchange platform bringing together socio-legal projects. We work with humanitarian and human rights actors, and with civilian groups engaged in self-protection, to co-produce creative strategies for generating respect in armed conflict.

Conceptually, the Generating Respect Hub’s research seeks to centre the voices of those with lived experience of conflict.

Methodologically, we favour socio-legal approaches and participatory action research.

Normatively, we look at, and beyond, international humanitarian law as a framework of compliance for, and restraint by, armed actors.
